Salesman helps companies reach the shops, clinics, schools, food businesses, agro-dealers and POS agents they sell to. This page explains what information we hold, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Who we are

Salesman is run by Ibrahim Abdulmalik in Abuja, Nigeria. For anything on this page, email khalilone62@gmail.com.

Information about businesses

We keep a directory of businesses. For each one we may hold:

This comes from open map data (Overture Maps Foundation and GRID3), from public listings and websites, and from the business itself when we speak to it. Where a business is run by one person, some of these details may be about that person.

We use it to confirm the business is real, and to ask whether it would like to hear from a supplier of something it may need. We only introduce a business to a supplier after the business has said yes. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in connecting suppliers with businesses, and we keep it to business contact details.

We never sell this directory. A client only receives details of a business that has agreed to be introduced to them.

Information from our clients

When you fill in our pilot form or email us, we keep your name, company, contact details and what you tell us, so we can reply and run your pilot.

How long we keep it

We keep business details while the business is trading and has not asked to be removed. We review records we haven't been able to confirm, and delete those that are closed or out of date. Client enquiries are kept for as long as we are working together, and up to two years after.

Keeping it safe

Our database sits on a secured server. Only our team can reach it, each person with their own login, and it is backed up every day.

Your choices

Whether you are a business in our directory or a client, you can ask us to:

Email khalilone62@gmail.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you tell us not to contact you again, we will keep only enough to make sure we don't. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Changes

If we change how we use information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
